NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Weather-related problems have disrupted Amtrak service between New York City and Boston. Amtrak officials say repairs are underway.
An Amtrak spokesman said no trains have been canceled, but Acela passengers are transferring from electric to diesel trains between New Haven and New York City.
Amtrak trains in that area use Metro North tracks, and a severe thunderstorm about 9 p.m. Sunday brought multiple trees down between Harrison and Cos Cob. Metro North service was shut down until repairs were completed about 12:50 a.m., said Sam Zambuto, spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Then at about 10 a.m. Monday, a downed tree in a Connecticut Light and Power transmission line in Cos Cob resulted in no power to all four tracks.
