Devin McCourty intercepted a Ryan Fitzpatrick pass in the Patriots' end zone with 23 seconds remaining to seal a 37-31 win for New England over the Buffalo Bills at Gillette Stadium.
The Patriots never trailed, and they benefited from a bevy of Buffalo penalties. The Bills were whistled for 14 of them, costing 148 yards and contributing to at least two New England touchdowns. Buffalo also committed three turnovers -- all of them very costly.
Stevan Ridley carried 22 times for 98 yards and a touchdown. Danny Woodhead had two touchdowns -- one rushing and one receiving -- while Tom Brady went 23 of 38 for 237 yards and a pair of touchdowns without an interception.
Fitzpatrick put up big numbers, going 27 of 40 for 337 yards and two touchdowns. But he set the Patriots up for their first touchdown when he fumbled the ball away at his own 13-yard line, and his interception in the closing moments, on a pass intended for T.J. Graham, ended a 65-yard march that nearly won the game in the closing minutes.
The Patriots improved to 6-3.
