JOHNSTON, R.I. -- With Thanksgiving Day around the corner and fried-heavy foods on the menu, the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation is reminding residents to recycle cooking oil.
Customers can dispose cooking oil into 55-gallon drums at the corporation's "small vehicle disposal area" Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., and Saturdays between 6 a.m. and noon. It will be closed Thursday for the holiday.
Cooking oil should not be poured down the drain as it can damage water and sewer pipes.
