PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Gary Ellerbe described Wednesday growing suspicious this spring about his live-in girlfriend's dealings with a man he knew as "Beeper".
"What's going on? You can tell me the truth," Ellerbe told jurors he prodded his girlfriend, LaToya Brisbon.
A few weeks earlier, another woman had been around the home they shared accusing Brisbon of fooling around with "Beeper," he said. The women had engaged in a vicious "knock-down" fight, scratching each other and pulling out hair.
"Somehow he was managing to still be around after the fight," Ellerbe, 35, of Providence, said.
Ellerbe took the stand in the trial of Timothy DeBritto, aka "Beeper", before Judge Robert Krause in Superior Court. DeBritto, 26, is accused of shooting Ellerbe in the back early May 20.
