NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A 25-year-old local man was arrested on charges of domestic assault and felony breaking and entering Saturday after he allegedly forced his way into a woman's home and pushed her in her bedroom.
Police said Jeffrey M. Joseph, of 49 Central Ave., was taken into custody after they found the woman trembling and crying on the steps of her house at 18 Merchant St. around 7:45 a.m.
They said they were led to the house by a residential panic alarm and hearing a woman crying in the background when a man asserted by phone that everything was "fine."
Bail Commissioner Bernard Lemos issued a no-contact order and released Joseph on $2,000 personal recognizance pending a court conference on Jan. 25.
