PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Governor Chafee announced Thursday that Rhode Island companies are projecting $3 million in new sales within the next year as a result of recent trade missions to Canada, Panama and the Dominican Republic.
According to surveys conducted by the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation and Bryant University, the 11 companies also generated 45 serious business leads through the trips.
Six companies were part of a state delegation to a defense conference and trade event in Halifax, Canada, on Sept. 4 -7. Five businesses participated in a trade mission to Panama and the Dominican Republic on Sept. 22-29.
The state delegations were organized by the EDC and the John H. Chafee Center for International Business at Bryant University.
