PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Rhode Island State Police, U.S. marshals and the medical examiner will investigate the death of an inmate at Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls, but the preliminary findings indicate the death was not suspicious, the state police said Monday.
According to a news release, an inmate was found unresponsive in his cell at Wyatt, the federal prison, at about 7:15 a.m. Saturday. Wyatt medical staff and Central Falls rescue personnel responded, as did state police detectives and deputy U.S. marshals from Rhode Island and Connecticut.
The Rhode Island Medical Examiner's Office will do a complete autopsy.
The inmate was recently moved to Wyatt from Connecticut and had pre-existing medical conditions. The police did not release the inmate's name pending notification of immediate family.
