PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Governor Chafee is headed to Washington on Wednesday to speak at the National Governors Association's National Summit on State Government Redesign.
Chafee spokeswoman Christine Hunsinger said Chafee will talk about "Rhode Island's efforts to shore up and strengthen the state pension system, manage and stabilize the finances of its municipalities, and the state's success in navigating the city of Central Falls through Chapter 9 bankruptcy, which has gained national recognition as a model for other states confronting severe municipal fiscal challenges.''
