PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- The police are awaiting the autopsy results in the deaths of a couple found inside their loft apartment in a downtown complex at 125 Goff Ave. Wednesday afternoon.
The deaths are being investigated as a homicide scene until the medical examiner determines the cause, said Maj. Arthur Martins.
The woman was found dead in bed, and showed no obvious signs of trauma, Martins said. Her boyfriend was found hanging from a railing inside the loft, with a coaxial cable tied around his neck, Martins said.
Police found several notes written by the boyfriend, Martins said. He declined to reveal the contents. There were no weapons or drugs found inside the apartment, Martins said. There was no history of police contacts with the couple, "that I know of," Martins said.
The bodies were found around noon, when the woman didn't show up at work. A parent went to her apartment, No. 4105, to check on her, and was let in by property management, Martins said.
The couple had been there no more than 12 hours, Martins said. Their identities are being withheld, pending the autopsy Thursday morning.
