PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A Providence County grand jury voted not to indict a RIPTA bus driver on charges of sexually assaulting a passenger on his bus.
Ivan Calderon, 55, of Providence, was charged by East Providence police last month. A woman accused him of touching her inappropriately and forcing her to perform a sex act.
Upon his arrest, East Providence police discovered Calderon had 13 aliases and an extensive criminal record in New York.
Calderon had worked for RIPTA since 2001, the state police said at the time.
The grand jury considered the charges lodged by East Providence police of assault with intent to commit first-degree sexual assault and second-degree sexual assault.
The jury members refused to indict Calderon.
