CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. -- A pan of grease left unattended on the stove caused a morning kitchen fire at 35 New Haven Ave.
About 20 Central Falls firefighters joined crews from Pawtucket and Saylesville around 11:30 a.m. to fight the blaze at the two-story Colonial house, according Battalion Chief Keith Sullivan. It took about 15 minutes to put the fire down, he said.
The fire gutted the kitchen and caused extensive heat and smoke damage to the house, which is owned by Maria Lopes, he said.
