NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Two men were arrested on felony larceny and conspiracy charges early Friday after being accused of stealing at least $2,600 in used frying oil from two restaurants on Mineral Spring Avenue.
Officer David Tesseris said a maintenance man at Burger King reported seeing two men pump the oil from a 300-gallon storage container into a truck around 5 a.m.
After that, Tesseris said, he staked out the Best Eastern Chinese and Japanese Restaurant and caught Jile Ni, 40 of 10 Dawn Lane, Warwick, and Xun Lin, of Newport News, Va., allegedly attempting to do the same thing.
The restaurants normally collect the oil for resale to local baking and bio-diesel companies. There have been other fry oil thefts in recent weeks.
