PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -- Four people were injured -- one seriously -- when a car traveling north on West Main Road near King Charles Drive left the center lane around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, sideswiped a car and then collided with a pickup truck head-on.
Police declined to identity the 32-year-old driver of the northbound Volkswagen Jetta, pending notification of next of family. After being extricated by firefighters he was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.
The other drivers were identified as Suzette Wilcox, 49, of Warren; Andrew Muller, 53, who was driving the pickup; and Margaret Pimenta, 62, of Somerset, who was driving a car behind the pickup. The three, who were all traveling south, were treated at area hospitals for minor injuries.
