PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The last defendant in the federal case against mobsters and mob associates who were involved in the shakedown of adult-entertainment businesses in Providence pleaded guilty Thursday and received a sentence of five years of probation.
Theodore Cardillo, 69, who had been employed at the Cadillac Lounge, was described by the prosecutor as having a minor role in the extortion conspiracy. U.S. District Court Judge William Smith agreed to adopt the sentence, under a plea agreement, which includes that Cardillo will be under home detention for the first six months.
Cardillo, through lawyer John F. Ciccillne, also agreed, to have no contact with any of the other people directly involved or associated with the New England La Cosa Nostra who have been sentenced.
