PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -- Police have identified the driver of the car that hit a pick-up truck head-on and side-swiped another car in a four-vehicle crash on West Main Road at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning as 32-year-old Joseph Hayes, of Taunton.
They said he remained in unstable condition at Rhode Island Hospital as of 3:15 p.m. Thursday.
The drivers of the three other vehicles -- pickup driver Andrew Muller, 53, of Portsmouth, who was taken to St. Anne's Hospital, and Suzette Wilcox, 49, of Warren, and Margaret Pimenta, 62, of Somerset, who were taken to Charleton Memorial Hospital -- were treated and released for minor injuries on Wednesday.
