LINCOLN, R.I. -- First the wife was arrested, and then the husband, while he was on his way to the state police barracks to pick her up.
The charge in both cases: driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs.
According to the state police, Stephanie Souza, 43, of 14 McKay Court, in Warwick, was arrested shortly after 9 p.m. Friday on Route 95 in Cranston. She was taken to the Lincoln Woods barracks, where a chemical test indicated she had been driving under the influence.
Her husband, Michael Souza, 44, also of 14 McKay Court, got as far as Old Louisquiestt Pike in Lincoln, where he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation and taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence. A chemical test at the Lincoln Barracks indicated he had been driving under the influence, the state police said.
Stephanie Souza is scheduled to be arraigned in District Court, Warwick, Dec. 18, and Michael Souza is scheduled to be arraigned in District Court, Providence, Jan. 4.
