PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- If the fiscal cliff talks don't come to a resolution by Jan. 1, people will have to start paying more in taxes because the Bush tax cuts will no longer be in effect.
The Obama administration recently issued state-by-state estimates of how many families would be affected if the cuts expire.
In a separate report tailored for Rhode Island, the administration claims: "If the House of Representatives fails to extend the middle-class tax cuts, 400,000 middle-class Rhode Island families will see their federal income taxes increase."
PolitiFact Rhode Island examined that claim and ruled it False. Read the complete analysis here.
