PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- The two police officers were curious about why a man suddenly tried to conceal himself as they patrolled by.

They discovered Emanuel Monteiro, 26, had something to hide.

For nearly three years, Monteiro has been wanted in the robbery and murder of a man in Brockton. Two other men were arrested hours after Ralph Hyppolite, 23, was killed in December 2009.

Authorities drew a warrant for Monteiro in January 2010, charging him with murder and armed robbery, said the Plymouth County District Attorney's office.

Monteiro had eluded capture -- until Saturday afternoon, when Pawtucket Officers Mario Comella and Matthew Braga saw a man acting suspiciously on Pine Street, said Pawtucket Maj. Arthur Martins.

They found out he was wanted for murder, Martins said, and promptly arrested and returned him to Brockton.
