PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- To the Pawtucket police, the four young men with packages and gift cards early Christmas morning didn't look like Santa's elves.
Told that someone was breaking into vehicles at 3:30 a.m., the police stopped the suspected getaway car on Columbus Avenue -- and found the Central Falls men had numerous items, some in shopping bags, and a collection of gift cards.
None belonged to them.
Some items were stolen from three vehicles, said Maj. Arthur Martins, and police are trying to trace the others. The thefts appear to have happened on the city's east side. The police ask victims to call (401) 727-9100 with a description of what's missing.
Juan Palacio, 18, Amado Gonzalez, 19, Anthony Gonzalez, 18, and a 15-year-old boy were charged.
