PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Just in time for people making New Year's resolutions, the R.I. Department of Health has launched a Facebook page for people to share their stories about smoking and quitting.
The Facebook page, called Tobacco Made Me, offers support and the state's quit line number, (800) QUIT-NOW.
"Quitting smoking is tough, but the more times that a smoker tries to quit, the more likely he or she is to ultimately be successful," said Dr. Michael Fine, health department director, in a news release issued Friday.
"Smokers should know that services to help them quit are available," Fine said. "We are up against $10 billion of tobacco marketing money, but working together, we can help Rhode Island's remaining smokers to quit."
