PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A proposal to expand gambling at Twin River and Newport Grand will appear on the ballot at the November election, spokeswoman Amy Kempe said Thursday on behalf of Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin.
Kempe made the announcement after the Rhode Island Supreme Court decided not to expedite an appeal from the Narragansett Indian tribe, which had sought to keep the question off the November ballot.
The tribe had lost a bid in Superior Court to block the question from appearing on the ballot, and had appealed to the Supreme Court.
