PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Firefighters responded to Mayor Angel Taveras' house Tuesday night after a boiler malfunctioned, setting off the smoke detectors, according to the mayor's spokesman.
Taveras, his wife, Farah, and 1-year-old daughter, Farah Rose, saw smoke when they got home around 6:30 Tuesday night, the mayor's spokesman, David Ortiz, said Wednesday. Taveras' wife and baby daughter stayed in the car, Ortiz said, as Taveras went into the house and shut off the boiler.
No one was injured.
