Echoing their Rhode Island colleagues in Washington, Congressman David Cicilline and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse expressed hope that a Senators' bipartisan immigration reform blueprint, released Monday, will lead to action.
Cicilline said, "It is long past time we enact a common-sense immigration policy that secures our borders and provides a path to citizenship for those who pay taxes and pass a criminal background check."
He said he will continue working "to ensure we create an immigration process that protects the interests of all Rhode Island families."
Senator Whitehouse said, "... By providing a much-needed path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who already live in America and meet certain requirements, this new bipartisan framework represents an important contribution towards reforming our nation's outdated immigration laws."
