PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Jade, an 8-year-old beagle up for adoption at the Providence Animal Rescue League was listed as "an independent lady who likes her alone time."
Intrigued, Ana Mallozzi and beau Emerson Bontecou went to see her. Jade didn't respond at first, so they briefly considered a cute and rambunctious beagle -- Buddy.
"He wouldn't enjoy hanging out with two 25-year-olds, so he wouldn't be a good match," she said. They played with Jade again, who suddenly perked up.
"We kind of fell in love."
Jade made the cover photo in last Sunday's "All About You" feature on pet adoptions. Coincidentally, the couple adopted her before the story ran and well, was pleasantly surprised.
"She's very chill, but she gets really excited too," Mallozzi said.
