PROVIDENCE -- A young man wanted in the murder of a taxi driver in Georgia last month turned himself in Wednesday to a local pastor and the Providence police.

Julius Ryan Thomas, 18, of Riverdale, Ga., had been questioned by Clayton County police about the murder of Rosendo Casarrubias, 44, on Jan. 25.

Thomas then moved in with family in Providence because he was being threatened as a "snitch," said Pastor Sherrod Jones.

An ex-con was charged in the murder, which led Clayton County police to get a warrant Tuesday for Thomas.

Thomas' family contacted Jones, who called Chief Hugh Clements, who arranged the arrest. This is what community policing is about, "open and honest relationships," Clements said. "This is what you get when you trust each other."
