PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Women's Center of Rhode Island has signed an agreement fo partner with Crossroads Rhode Island in addressing the link between domestic violence and homelessness.
In a news release, the organizations said: "Both organizations recognize that these populations have a continuum of need that is broader than either organization can meet on its own."
The Women's Center, a member of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence, last year provided safe shelter for 200 women and children and fielded more than 2,800 hotline calls from domestic violence victims, the release said.
Crossroads last year sheltered more than 4,000 individuals and families, and provided case management, adult education and employment services.
The agencies will operate as separate 501(c)3 organizations.
