CRANSTON, R.I. -- A developer has purchased the old police headquarters building on Atwood Avenue and plans a mix of retail and office space, according to City Council President Anthony J. Lupino.
Lupino said that the winning, and sole, bidder was crown holdings LLC, which offered $1 million for the property. He said the new owner plans to tear down the old structure, which was abandoned five years ago when a new police headquarters opened on Garfield Avenue.
The City Council approved the sale on Monday.
"I think it's going to be a limited mix -- some low-traffic retail and offices," Lupino said Wednesday.
