PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Just because state lawmakers are getting to sample dishes of calamari while discussing making it the official Rhode Island appetizer, "It's no squid pro quo," says the committee's chairman, Rep. Joseph McNamara.
If they keep serving samples, this hearing could go on all night.
But no, they've pushed away from the table and are done for now, says Journal food editor Gail Ciampa, who's been covering the Wednesday night debate.
