PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A 22-year-old North Providence man sustained serious injuries Sunday afternoon when the motorcycle he was operating crashed on Route 95 North just south of the Branch Avenue exit, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

Quinton Davis, of 30 Baird Ave., was taken to Rhode Island Hospital after he lost control of the motorcycle at about 3:52 p.m. Sunday and was thrown from it, Cpl. Jay Gibbs said. A hospital spokeswoman said they had no information on the man's condition shortly after 8 p.m.

Davis, who was wearing a helmet, was unconscious when rescue crews arrived, Gibbs said.

The original version of this report was published at 5:05 p.m. Journal staff writer Kate Bramson contributed to this report.
