CRANSTON, R.I. -- Police have identified the motorcyclist who was killed Wednesday on Pontiac Avenue as 33-year-old Jason Wilcox of West Warwick.
Police say they've determined that Wilcox was going north on Pontiac at a "high rate of speed" when he hit the curb on the east side of the roadway near the Route 37 east on-ramp just before 4 p.m. He was separated from his cycle when it began to slide on the sidewalk and sustained fatal head injuries when he hit a utility pole.
They say it does appear he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
