WARREN, R.I. -- Memorabilia such as old ticket stubs, clothing and photographs are being sought to round out an oral history project that will open Nov. 15 and run through Dec. 24.
Members of the Warren Preservation Society's Oral History Project are asking residents to check their attics, basements and closets for items they are willing to loan for the exhibit, "Warren: a point of view -- Stories of the Silent Generation."
Project coordinator Helen Hawkins said specific items from the 1930 to the 1960s are being sought:
Photos of drug stores, Town Hall canteen dances, Horribles Parade, 1947 Bicentennial Pageant, Navy Ship Yard, UK Sailors, Hurricane '38, Torch Light Parade, amateur art shows, swimming in Warren & Kickimuit Rivers, Burrs Hill Park, the Warren Festival, road running races, Henry Hands Pond, Jamiels Park Carnivals, candy stores (Barkers Candy), dances at the French Club, Newberry's, Woolworths, Zipper Factory, Lyric Theatre, and speakeasys.
Tickets and programs to any of the above.
Artifacts such as machine shop and mill tools, milk bottles, crystal radio, homemade football, signage and advertisements from local stores and sports memorabilia such as jerseys abd team shirts.
