Rhode Island state agencies will remain open for at least the first shift of work on Monday, Governor Chafee's office announced Sunday evening.

Managers at individual agencies may determine adequate staffing levels, and use their discretion to allow workers to stay home or to go home early, the governor's office announced. Those state employees who stay home or leave early are required to use vacation or personal time. Employees should contact their supervisors to discuss individual situations. Second- and third-shift state workers should also plan on attending work pending any new notification.

"It is especially important that those state agencies which provide 24-hour services remain operational during this weather event," Governor Lincoln D. Chafee said in a statement.

The Governor said he would continue to monitor conditions very closely and would make adjustments to the current staffing plan if the situation warrants.
