PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The National Weather Service has reported that a strong thunderstorm is making its way through Connecticut and could affect parts of Rhode Island.
The storm was moving northeast as 40 mph. Hail up to the size of dimes and wind gusts up to 40 mph are possible, the Weather Service said in a special weather statement.
Woonsocket and Burrillville are in the path of the storm.
The Weather Service also issued a flood advisory for all of Rhode Island, in effect through 5:45 p.m.
Heavy rain from thunderstorms is expected to cause urban and small stream flooding.
The thunderstorms may produce up to an inch of rain per hour.
Poor drainage may cause minor flooding.
