PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Governor Chafee is headed to the swing states of Pennsylvania and Virginia this weekend to stump for President Obama, according to his office.
Chafee departs Saturday morning for Pennsylvania and has confirmed stops in the state capital of Harrisburg and State College, home to Penn State University.
On Sunday, Chafee will travel to Virginia, where his only confirmed stop so far is Richmond, the state capital.
Mr. Obama will not likely be joining Chafee for the speaking appearances, a Chafee spokesman said.
Chafee, a Republican turned independent, is a co-chair of Mr. Obama's re-election campaign.
This would be the most significant campaigning Chafee has done for the president, besides giving a speech at the Democratic National Convention in North Carolina in September.
