Herman deKoe has built 55 houses during the 13 years he has headed Habitat for Humanity of Rhode Island - Greater Providence.
The affordable units are constructed with volunteer labor and sold to low-income families who also participate in the building process.
DeKoe will soon leave his post for a position in Ethiopia, where he will direct workers as part of the British version of the Peace Corps. It's the continent where he began his volunteer work decades ago and where he'll continue to help communities and young people build their future.
