PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Candidates for next month's Central Falls mayoral election did not change after a tally of mayoral-primary mail ballots Thursday afternoon.
One is James A. Diossa, who handily won Tuesday's primary. His 111 mail ballot votes brought him to 2,150 votes. He is set to face former Central Falls Police Chief Joseph P. Moran III, whose 30 mail ballot votes brought him to 627 in the primary.
The winner will serve the last year of the term of ex-Mayor Charles D. Moreau, who resigned in September and signed an agreement to plead guilty to a federal corruption charge.
Former Central Falls Mayor Thomas Lazieh, who finished third Tuesday, received 41 mail ballot votes, bringing him to 571, not enough to get on the ballot instead of Moran.
