PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A man suspected of dealing "eight-balls" of cocaine from his car was caught with cocaine and a gun, according to the Providence police.
Rafael Fernandez, 30, was arrested Friday after narcotics detectives searching his first-floor apartment at 133 Whittier Ave., and discovered 4 grams of cocaine and a .357 handgun, Capt. Anthony Sauro said.
This was the 45th gun seized by the police narcotics squad this year, Sauro said.
Sgt. Roger Aspinall and Detectives Patrick Potter and Kristopher Poplaski led the investigation into Fernandez's drug-dealing, Sauro said. An "eight ball" is an eighth of an ounce of cocaine.
Fernandez was due to be arraigned Monday at District Court, Providence, on gun and drug charges.
