PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The police are investigating an assault and robbery early Thursday morning in the area of Chalkstone and Academy avenues.
Two victims told the police they were walking around 1:15 a.m. Thursday when two men approached them, punched them and slammed them to the ground.
The attackers took their money and cell phones and fled in a dark car.
The victims declined medical attention, the police said.
No description of the suspects was given.
