SEEKONK, Mass. -- About 20 people staged a quick-strike picket Friday afternoon at the Walmart store in Seekonk, protesting what they consider to be the discount retailer's unfair pay and benefit practices.
The group, led by community activist Camilo Viveiros, tried to deliver a letter to the Wal-mart store manager -- intended for company Chairman Rob Walton -- but was rebuffed by Seekonk police and store workers. The protesters picketed the entryway for about 15 minutes before police escorted them off the property
The group answered the call for a nationwide protest against Walmart. Similar actions are taking place Friday in 46 states -- including at the Walmart in Providence.
Nick Katkevich of Bristol is told by a Seekonk Police officer to get off the Walmart property Friday as a small group protests the low wages and benefits of Walmart employees.
Seekonk Police make protesters leave Walmart property after about 10 minutes. There were no arrests.
