PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Governor Chafee and the state's two U.S. senators, Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, will be in Coventry Monday to rededicate the Laurel Avenue Bridge over the Pawtuxet River, which was wrecked in the massive flooding of 2010.

The state Department of Transportation, which reopened the bridge Nov. 8 following its reconstruction, said the opening happened three weeks ahead of schedule.

The bridge is to be rededicated as the Major General Nathanael Greene Memorial Bridge. The ceremony is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
