FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) - A Rhode Island man has been charged with motor vehicle homicide for allegedly causing the death of a Fall River city worker who fell out of a bucket truck while working on overhead traffic lights.
Authorities say 31-year-old James Murray of Tiverton, was driving a tractor-trailer that struck the truck in June. The jolt knocked out 63-year-old Manny Marques, who fell about 15 feet to the ground. He died at a hospital several hours later.
Murray was released on personal recognizance after pleading not guilty Wednesday to a charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
A spokesman for the Bristol district attorney says Murray is due back in court Jan. 10 for arraignment on the new charge.
