PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Motorists will again have easier access to downtown Pawtucket off Interstate 95 after crews were able to open up a temporary ramp to a highway exit earlier than anticipated.
The state Department of Transportation says they opened the ramp to Exit 27 three months earlier than planned.
The exit has been closed in September as part of an $81 million project to replace the Pawtucket River Bridge.
Transportation officials say they may have to close the temporary ramp from time to time as they complete the span, which will eventually carry I-95 South over the river.
The project is expected to be completed in the summer.
