PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Maila Touray has announced that he is stepping down from the Providence School Board. Monday night will be his last meeting.
After nine years on the board, Touray said it was time to turn the reins over to someone new. He also said that he was traveling a lot for work.
Touray has worked with four superintendents. He has served on the board during a tumultuous period in the winter of 2010 when five schools were closed and every one of the district's 1,900 teachers were pink-slipped.
