WARWICK, R.I. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency expects to hire as many as 15 Rhode Islanders to help coordinate the recovery from superstorm Sandy.
Federal Coordinating Officer James N. Russo said the policy of employing local people "gives us an opportunity to tap into the skills and experience of people who live right here in the Ocean State."
FEMA's joint field office in Warwick needs up to 15 local people who have skills in such fields as civil engineering, administrative management, accounting and charting and mapping.
