CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. -- Central Falls Mayor-elect James A. Diossa has named Anna Cano Morales to lead his transition team.

Cano Morales, who chairs the city's state-appointed school board, is a first-generation Colombian American whose family helped establish the Blackstone Valley Colombian community.
"As a native of Central Falls, I am honored to contribute in this role, as we work together to build a transition team, focusing on an ethics ordinance, a jobs plan and a schools plan," Cano Morales said in a news release.
Cano Morales is vice chair of the board of the R.I. Latino Political Action Committee. She served on the state's Board of Regents for Elementary and Secondary Education. She worked for a decade at the Rhode Island Foundation where she led the Hispanics in Philanthropy initiative, according to the news release.
